About Cooperation Tulsa
Revolution from the ground up, without rulers.
Who We Are
We are fighting for a future without hierarchy, where all people govern together. That means not only tearing down the hierarchies that exist, but also building the non-hierarchical alternatives.
This isn't something we can trust to others to do for us. A radical transformation requires radical action by us. There is no hero coming. We are the ones we've been waiting for.
How We Operate
Volunteer-Powered
Our organization is powered entirely by volunteer effort. No one gets paid, no one is the boss. Every hour of work is freely given because we believe in what we're building.
Direct Democracy
We make all our decisions through direct democracy and consensus. No board of directors, no executive committee. Every member has an equal voice in every decision.
Independent
We are not bought by corporations or the government. Our money comes from recurring donations from community members and it goes straight to our projects.
What We Build
Revolution requires an alternative system and everything we do is about building that alternative. This involves creating:
- Community gardens and food sovereignty programs
- Popular education sessions free and open to all
- Mutual aid networks for medical care, housing support, and resource sharing
- Worker cooperatives and democratic workplaces
- Community defense and neighborhood safety
- Social gatherings that build the relationships mutual aid depends on
Flat Rock Community Garden
Our flagship project is Flat Rock Community Garden, a communal growing space in Tulsa where food sovereignty takes root. The garden features raised metal beds, composting stations, a developing food forest, and plans for prairie restoration.
We hold regular work days where anyone can show up and help. No gardening experience is required. Everything we grow is shared with the community.

Our Inspirations
We draw from a tradition of community self-organization and radical democracy.
Murray Bookchin
The founder of social ecology and communalism, whose vision of libertarian municipalism and confederated assemblies guides our organizational structure.
Rojava
The democratic confederalism practiced in northeast Syria, where communities govern themselves through local councils, gender equality, and ecological sustainability.
Cooperation Jackson
The network of worker cooperatives and community land trusts in Jackson, Mississippi, building a solidarity economy from the ground up.
“The assumption that what currently exists must necessarily exist is the acid that corrodes all visionary thinking.” — Murray Bookchin

We work alongside allied horizontal organizations across Tulsa.
Tulsa Equity Alliance
Community advocacy and equity work across Tulsa.
Scissortail Anarchist Black Cross
Prisoner support, abolition, and solidarity with incarcerated community members.

Get Involved
How can you help? In addition to financial support to keep our projects going, we always need new volunteers. You don't need to be a member to help out!
If you want to be a member of the organization, ask one of us how you can apply. And if you have skills or access to resources that might help us, just say so.
